The Murtis 3.0 | Home, Sweet, Nerdy, Home

Tuesday, February 24

Over the weekend, we had a party at our new house, which means—as Colt put it—our house needed to look like we keep it immaculate all of the time. Although I rolled my eyes when he said it, the truth is that I don't like people to visit our home for the first time if it's looking it's best. (The second time they visit, all bets are off.)

The need to tidy also gave me an opportunity to take some photos of the new(ish) space. Since we moved in last October, we've been slowing making progress on making the place our own. We're not quite done yet—there are a few projects I know I'd like to tackle, and there are always more ideas floating around in my head. (Thanks, Obama Pinterest.) But it's close! And it's cute, if I do say so myself.

Below the jump are a slew of photos of The Murtis 3.0. (And sorry ahead of time for the somewhat poor quality of these photos. I am not a photographer.)

Hope you enjoyed the tour! I'll be posting more in the coming weeks about specific projects and art, so if you have any questions about anything, let me know.

  2. Absolutely gorgeous! It looks so cozy and "home-y" and all. the. geek. stuff!!! :O Also, we have the same little tables as coffee tables in our townhouse, haha.

  3. Really jealous of your library... my shelves are slowly being taken over by kid toys and my books relegated to any space available in the house. :p Seriously love how all of your geeky stuff fits into your space.

The tables are great. And so cheap, haha!

  9. Thanks, Heather! I'm sure I'll be in your boat eventually. Perhaps I'll have to relegate any future children's stuff to the bottom level. ;)

  10. Aw, thanks Martha! It's definitely a lot of fun to live in, but man—the dusting! ;)

  11. Thanks! It's definitely very geeky, but that's very much "us," so it works well. Funny enough, our bedroom is very non-geeky (which you might have noticed), but it's still us, too. ;)

  12. Just keep the dream alive! This random space in the house was just perfect for all of my books. (Sadly, I'm already running out of shelf space, haha!)

  14. So it's cool if I move in right?! :D Seriously though, the place is fantastic! I love all the artwork...totally slow scrolled to inspect each piece haha. And your library....so droolworthy. All in all, I think your place is amazing - I love that while yes, it's clean, it also looks lived in, and full of love and coziness. Just what a home should be!

  16. Your house is beautiful, PLEASE COME OVER AND HELP ME! lol I love how your geekdom shines through and adds such beautiful personality to your home. I mean, the Gallifrey poster? Be still my heart. What are the "love" letters in your bedroom on? They're really neat.

  17. Thanks! :) And I'm very glad to hear it seems cozy and lived in, too, because it is. It's important for me to have a place for myself (and Colt) that feels like "us." But I do tend to keep the house clean, if not this clean. ;)

  19. I would love to! I have so much fun decorating, and I'm always willing to help others. :) And it's definitely geeky. But that's very "us," so we wouldn't want it any other way.

Those letters are vintage marquee letters Colt found at an antique fair. One of his—as he'd say, few—contributions to the decor. ;)
